SAN ANTONIO - More than 400 magicians from around the globe appeared as if by magic (but likely via airplanes or other well-known modes of transportation), bringing lots of excitement to Downtown San Antonio.

The 88th Annual International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention kicked off this weekend, highlighting some of the best acts and tricks out there.

If you're downtown, you may run into some impromptu shows near the Alamo over the coming days.

The convention runs through Tuesday, and there are some opportunities for the public to get in on the magic.

"We just hang out, do magic with each other,” said Shawn Farquhar. “The goal for IBM is to invite people to see magic. So we have three public shows at the Lila Cockrell Theater, which is at the convention center."

The shows include a magic competition and feature magicians who were able to fool some of the best in the world.
