ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Summer construction season is in full swing with some changes underway to Rochester area highways.

As part of the 390/490 interchange improvement project, noise walls are being added along roadways to help keep the noise down as traffic is expected to increase with improvements.

"We are predicting some higher level of traffic noise on the expressway and we feel that the people who live on the neighboring sides will benefit from some noise mediation in the form of news walls," said Lori Maher with the NYS DOT.

The project has started and will be done in phases. The walls will be approximately 14 feet tall.
