Technicians restored service to customers of Time Warner Cable, NY1's parent company, following an outage in the New York City area Monday.

"Multiple fiber cuts at one of our network providers are affecting TWC phone and some TV services in the New York City area," a TWC representative said shortly after 7 p.m.

By 9 p.m. service in New York City had been restored, the spokesman said.

"We are in continual contact with the provider on its repairs and we have restored additional TV networks through our own facilities. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused our customers."

As of 6 p.m. NY1 was again available on TWC cable boxes as the company was working to restore all remaining channels.

TWC's websites, including NY1.com, were unreachable during the afternoon through the company's Road Runner cable modem service in some locations, but accessibility began returning after 7:30 p.m.
