Kids in Niagara Falls could have two new spots to play in Hyde Park by the end of the summer.
The Niagara Falls City Council approved plans for a neighborhood skate park and a new playground Monday night. City leaders say the skate park has been in the works for two years. They also say the almost $500,000 price tag will be paid entirely with outside grants.
"This is about quality of life. These things are for locals, if visitors come, that's an added benefit. But these are things the neighborhoods have asked for and we are responding to what they're looking for," said Seth Piccillo, Niagara Falls Community Development director.
Construction on the skate park could be finished as early as August. City leaders hope the playground could be open by July.
