BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Kids from across Western New York are taking up the challenge to help protect our environment.

They took part in the "What On Earth" cardboard challenge at the Buffalo Science Museum Sunday afternoon.

Children were able to design their own imaginative projects in recognition of Earth Day.

They were then given only recyclable materials to help bring those ideas to life.

"They see other people building and being creative with Earth Day this week, it allows them an opportunity to really be one with their environment and appreciate what's around them and learn how to basically take care of things," said parent Paula Sharvella.

This event was presented in partnership with Time Warner Cable and the Imagination Foundation.
