BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A former State Supreme Court Judge and Erie County District Attorney has died at the age of 65.
Judge Kevin Dillon retired from the bench back in 2013 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Dillon was a graduate of Canisius High School and the University at Buffalo Law School.
He was appointed District Attorney back in 1988 by former Governer Mario Cuomo.
"Fairness is one word that I would use to describe Kevin," ECDC Chairman Jeremy Zellner said. "It didn't matter what walk of life you came from. He brought everyone to the table. He treated everyone the same. It didn't matter their background, from what community they came from. That's why he was the gold standard for district attorneys. That's why he was someone that everybody wants to emulate when they seek that position."
Acting District Attorney Michael Flaherty released a statement regarding the passing.
“I mourn the passing of the great Kevin M. Dillon who served with tremendous distinction both as District Attorney and a Supreme Court Justice. The relationship between the Flaherty Family and the Dillon Family goes back generations and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family.”
