ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren highlighted the Port of Rochester's Marina Project's benefits to the local economy on Tuesday.
The excavation portion of the project is now complete and crews will soon begin to fill the basin with water. When completed, it is expected to create 2,500 construction jobs and an additional $1.6 million in tax revenue.
"What we have created here is more than just a marina. Like I said, we are building a port of opportunity, that will create new jobs. And will position Rochester as the destination on the Great Lakes," said Warren.
The Port of Rochester Marina is scheduled to be open in the spring.
