With artists spanning across different genres, Syracuse University's Juice Jam Music Festival brought in thousands of fans who danced their way through the all day event. Alana LaFlore spoke with attendees who say they couldn't miss out on one of the school's biggest events of the year.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Only a few words can describe Juice Jam.
"It's pretty lit right now!" said Ricky Chan, a sophomore at Syracuse University.
More than 9,000 festival goers walked through the gates to dance the day away, enjoying performances by popular acts like Matt and Kim, Oliver Heldens, ILoveMakonnen, BØRNS and SNBRN.
"To have bands and then hip-hop and dance music -- it makes it more fun," said SNBRN, one of the festival's EDM performers. "And with music festivals you need that diversity to keep it fresh."
The two stage, festival format became part of Juice Jam just a few years ago. And among the all the diverse performances the headliner, rapper Big Sean, drew the most excitement.
"I love him! He's the best," said Kelsey Coughlin, an SU junior.
This year was the 11th Juice Jam and one of the quickest to sell out.
"This is the embodiment of fun at Syracuse University," said Alex Majors, a Syracuse University student.
"It's a cultural thing," said Bianca Kim, a junior at Syracuse University. "Everyone comes together. We all have a great time."
Aside from the excitement of seeing big name acts, students saw the sense of togetherness is what makes the festival such a draw.
"Juice Jam is family," said Matthew Stith, SU student. "Syracuse University -- we're all one family."
