PITTSFORD, N.Y, -- An East Rochester Police Officer was involved in a serious two car crash Wednesday night. It happened just before midnight in the town of Pittsford.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the East Rochester officer was driving along Fairport Road, or Route 31-F. Just as he approached Route 490, he collided with another car coming off the exit ramp.

The impact sent both cars underneath the Route 490 overpass. Daniel Strassner, 21, the other driver, was the only person in his car. He and the East Rochester Officer were rushed to the hospital. 

According to the Monroe County Sheirffs Office the officer's emergency lights were activated and the officer had a green light. 

The officer was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with a shoulder injury. Strassner was transported to Strong with a possible broken collarbone and concussion. 

Strassner was issued mutiple traffic tickets after running a red light qnd was not intoxicated.
