AMHERST, N.Y. -- Police have identified the man and woman found dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Amherst over the weekend.

Investigators said Richard Dux, 53, shot and killed Ellen Zingaro, 55, at their house and then turned the gun on himself.

The pair was found by Zingaro's family members Sunday afternoon, who stopped by the home on Ransom Oaks Drive after they had not heard from her. Investigators said Zingaro and Dux had been living together for quite some time. The case is being looked into as a domestic violence situation, yet police said they were never called to the home in the past for any disturbances.

Autopsies are expected to be performed Monday. Meanwhile, Amherst police are looking to close friends and family members of the couple for clues so they can piece together what led up to this violent act.
