DEPEW, N.Y. -- Now open in Western New York, Five Star Family Care in Depew combines the convenience of urgent care with the continuity of primary care.
Whether you need a physical, are coming down with something or have a chronic health issue, Five Star is now open seven days a week to provide the treatment you need without an appointment.
"We are primary care primarily, but then we also offer that convenience care that you would expect to see in an urgent care center, so we will see walk-in patients, whether they decide to establish with us or not," said Lynnda Clark, practice manager for Five Star Family Care, "We will be able to do x-rays and blood draws, and anything you would expect for an urgent visit."
While Five Star has urgent care centers in Central New York, its founder, Dr. John Radford, said this new facility is the first of its kind. With regular evening and weekend hours, Five Star Family Care works to make quality health care easy.
"It's important to have access to a primary care doctor so you can have continuity of care so you're seen by the same provider for the same types of problems to make sure you're getting better," said Radford.
It's focused on being affordable; promoting lower charges than urgent care centers and ERs.
"Our main priority is to try to keep patients out of the emergency room. The only way our health care system can continue to do what it needs to do is to lower these overall costs," said Clark.
Five Star Family Care offers services for all ages, and Clark hopes it will help people take better care of themselves.
"We maintain our cars, we maintain our animals, we don't maintain ourselves, so it's essential."
Five Star Family Care is open weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm and weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing only on Christmas Day.
