ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- An Orchard Park man will spend 15 years in prison for killing his father. Sean Keenan, 22, was sentenced Tuesday morning in Erie County Court.
He beat and stabbed his father John to death in the family's Hillsboro Drive home in July.
He initially pleaded not guilty to murder, but changed course and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in April.
Keenan's attorney said he was dealing with severe mental health issues, and has since been treated for depression. He apologized while addressing the court prior to sentencing.
He was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
