Overnight weather was wild across Western New York, and it created plenty of problems. The storms interrupted filming of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel on Route 33 in Buffalo Monday night. Time Warner Cable News Reporter Kaitlyn Lionti has an update on the weather's impact.
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The helicopter made its first appearance on set, but thanks to Mother Nature, things didn't go quite as planned. Crews faced a rain delay that put filming on hold for several hours Monday night, but as the weather cleared up, crews were able to get back to work.
They'll be using a helicopter overnight through Thursday. Citing FAA safety regulations, Buffalo Police say people will not be allowed to stand near Route 33, or along Humboldt Parkway. Surrounding side streets will also be closed off to everyone except people who live there.
Though the storms only inconvenienced the movie shoot, they left damage in other areas. A tree was knocked onto Frew Run Road in Frewsburg. A car that hit the tree had some minor headlight damage.
And Buffalo Firefighters said lightning sparked a fire at a home on Wilkes Avenue Monday night. The Red cross is helping two people after that fire.
