AMHERST, N.Y. -- An Amherst girl who has battled several chronic illnesses since birth became part of the team Tuesday, signing an honorary national letter of intent with the UB women's softball team.
For 12 years, Maddie Nadrich has undergone surgeries and treatments since her birth. Her spirit has inspired the Bulls.
"She's a fighter, and that's something we're preaching as a coaching staff to our team, to keep fighting in spite of the circumstances that we're faced with," said head coach Trena Peel.
An avid sports fan, Nadrich was linked with the team through Team IMPACT, a non-profit that looks to improve the lives of children facing life-threatening diseases.
