LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- A Lockport woman will not face charges after almost 60 animals were rescued from two of her properties last week.

Bobbie Mael, owner of Eastern Niagara Animal Welfare Alliance, will also keep four cats and 12 dogs.

The Niagara County SPCA says the animals were left with caretakers for almost two weeks before the caretakers called the shelter for help, so it would have been difficult to press charges.

Mael signed over 40 cats to the SPCA.

Officials will check the health and conditions of her animals regularly in the future.
