CLARENCE, N.Y. -- A home that was under construction in Clarence will have to be rebuilt from the ground up. A fire destroyed this house on Chatham lane around 8:30 Thursday night.

Firefighters said the house was engulfed in flames when they got there. No one was inside and there were no injuries.

The heat of the fire also melted the siding of a neighboring house. Both people inside that house got out safely.

Crews said there are several possibilities for what might have caused the fire.

“There was electrical, there was gas. They were working on the drywall earlier in the day,” said Seven Leising, chief of the Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Company. “But they're unsure of how the fire actually started.”
