CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- We're working to learn more about an investigation into the alleged abuse of funds in Cheektowaga.
Town Supervisor Mary Holtz said the results of a recent investigation are being handed over to the State Attorney General's office for possible further action.
Despite being pressed by reporters during Tuesday night's town board meeting, Holtz would not give any further details into who or what fueled this investigation, which she said lasted a number of weeks.
Town Councilwoman Diane Benczkowski stopped short of saying how much money is involved, but said it potentially happened over a 15-year period.
"I am all for exposing whatever is in the report. I have nothing to hide, it's a people's right to know what's in the report," said Benczkowski.
"Our investigation is in various different situations. I don't want to speak on it because its going to be in litigation," said Holtz. "I want the State Attorney to look at it, and determine what he thinks what's there and what's not."
The Attorney General's office would not confirm or deny an investigation Wednesday morning.
