AMHERST, N.Y. -- Two people were injured in a head-on crash during morning rush hour Wednesday in Amherst.
Town police said a man was driving south on Niagara Falls Boulevard just before 9 a.m. when he veered into an oncoming lane and hit another car.
The male driver was taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda. The female driver of the other vehicle was rushed to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Their conditions were not known Wednesday morning.
Investigators are trying to figure out what led to the crash.
"From some of the witnesses, it appears as if the male, who was southbound, had some kind of a medical problem because his car veered off the road, came back on the road and then crossed over into the other lane," said Amherst Police Capt. Patrick McKenna.
Niagara Falls Boulevard was shut down in both directions Wednesday morning between North Ellicott Creek Road and Creekside Drive because of the post-crash investigation.
