BUFFALO, N.Y. — There is still some cleanup happening from the massive lake effect snow that hit parts of Western New York.
Buffalo Public Schools are closed again on Wednesday, despite an initial announcement that the district would resume classes. District leaders say they received "extensive feedback" and decided to stay closed.
There is still work to be done when it comes to clearing this snow.
Buffalo Public Works Commissioner Nate Marton says New York state is pitching in by sending more crews to the region.
"They're mobilizing resources," said Marton. "All parts of Western New York and this area that were affected by storms, we're all looking for those same resources — dump trucks and high loaders and that equipment to move it. So we've got our full set of resources, private contractors engaged, and New York State is helping as well."
The city says regularly scheduled garbage pickup resumed on Tuesday.
Erie County is ending its temporary transportation hotline on Wednesday. It was used to coordinate rides for patients needing dialysis, chemotherapy treatments or prescription medications during the record-setting snowfall.
The community is now asked to call 911 for any medical emergencies.
