The 22-day prison strike officially came to an end Monday when about 75% of correction officers across the state agreed to return to work.
About 2,000 officers did not accept the deal with the state and have been fired from their jobs, and barred from seeking jobs with the state in the future.
The deal includes a temporary suspension of elements of the “HALT” Act, minimizing 24-hour mandatory overtime and the establishment of a committee to present changes to the “HALT” Act.
The strike also came around the time corrections officers were charged in the fatal beating of inmate Robert Brooks.
New York Inspector General Lucy Lang joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to talk about the Brooks case and more.
