The Bills Mafia made a permanent impact on Oishei Children's Hospital.

It all started when a fan suggested people donate $17 dollars to the hospital in honor of Bills QB Josh Allen's late grandmother.

In just under two weeks, the hospital received nearly $700,000 from more than 27,000 donors.

Hospital officials are making sure they do their part to recognize the woman behind the out pouring of generosity. The west wing on the 10th floor will be named the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing.

With input from Josh Allen, the hospital also launched the Patricia Allen fund. It will provide ongoing support to the pediatric critical care team that takes care of more than 800 patients each year.

Leaders of the hospital say it was a perfect fit coming from a critical player on the Bills.

They characterize the donation as 'very Buffalo.'

"It goes to the core of what we are in Buffalo. We're a very strong community despite the fact that we have enormous poverty and all kinds of economic issues, particularly now during COVID. That people still care for one another in the community. It's a community that really cares for one another and we wanted Josh to know we really care about him too. He's part of our community," said Oishei Children's Hospital president Allegra Jaros.

“I am humbled by the incredible generosity that has poured in over the past several days in honor of my grandmother," Allen said. “It means the world to me and my family and we are very grateful these donations will go toward helping save many lives for years to come."
