CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A Buffalo mother of three could’ve never imagined taking on three more children of a close friend who died last month.

Lashelle Roberson couldn’t hold back the tears Friday after getting a surprise she never expected.

What You Need To Know

  • Lashelle Roberson is in process of adopting three toddlers after their mom died

  • Roberson also has three kids of her own

  • The Basil Family Dealership surprised the family with a 2016 Dodge Caravan

The Basil Family Dealership gifted the mother of six with a 2016 Dodge Caravan. Orchard Park Police also fitted the minivan with four car seats.

"It was pretty hard to get everyone in the vehicle that I had," said Roberson. "This is a blessing!”

In a month’s time, Roberson’s family doubled in size. She took custody of three toddlers of a close friend who passed away in September. After witnessing Roberson’s struggle to get a vehicle, the Basil family stepped in to help.

“We’re excited to help her out," said John Basil. "Giving back to the community is what our dad instilled in us!”

All Basil locations are now accepting donations for the Roberson family in the form of new clothing items. Size 2T clothes for a twin boy and girl, clothing for a 12-18 month old, and gift cards are being accepted.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, donors are strongly encouraged to purchase new clothing.
