CLARENCE, N.Y. — It's time for some scary big pumpkins.

That's right, the 25th annual World Pumpkin Weigh-Off took place in Clarence Saturday.

The competition brings growers across the county to the Great Pumpkin Farm, all to see who's got the biggest green thumb in the group.

Organizers say last year's winner tipped the scales at 2,269 pounds, earning the owner a state record.

"This is our signature event of our whole festival, this is what put us on the map, 25 years ago, we had the first 1,000-pound pumpkin ever and pumpkin-growing's come a long way in 25 years," said Great Pumpkin Farm co-owner Ben Schultz.

You can still check out the top pumpkins from this year's weigh-off by visiting the Great Pumpkin Farm.

It's open from 10 a.m. until dusk every day through November 1.
