BATAVIA, N.Y. — Frustrations have continued to grow in the Finger Lakes Region due to people not being able to visit their loved-ones "face to face" in nursing homes.
That's the reason for a protest on Saturday outside of Batavia City Hall.
Demonstrators disagree with the state's strict nursing home visitation policy even though the region is in phase 4.
They say it's hypocritical to not be able to visit their loved ones, while nursing home workers get a temperature check, work at the facility and then go about their day.
"We can't come in, get our temperature taken, wear a mask and sit in the same room as our loved ones. It just doesn't make sense," said protest organizer Beverly Noody.
"Why should I have to beg in order to hold my mother's hand? This isn't America. This isn't right," said protester Laura Corridi.
Organizers say the slogan for the protest was "save our seniors," which aims to restore visitation rights for those in nursing homes.
