GASPORT, N.Y. — Apple-picking season is officially underway.
But, it's going to be a bit different this year.
Becker Farms in Gasport has some new protocols because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On weekends, you will need an admission ticket.
This way, the farm can control how many people are on the grounds at once.
There will be no wagon rides to the orchard, so people will have to walk to pick apples.
But, there's one change that may be a positive.
Because most schools aren't doing field trips, Becker Farms is offering educational tours to teach students about where their food comes from.
"They want to have an activity for their kids to do, it'll also count as science or social studies even, history. I'm always flexible on what I talk about, and I'll talk to the audience that's there, if it's a lot of little kids I can talk to them, if it's a lot of high school kids I can talk to them as well," said Becker Farms co-owner Melinda Vizcarra.
You can schedule an educational tour at Becker Farms Monday through Friday.
