After being closed nearly a year for renovations, the Masten Clubhouse for the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo is open once again.
The $535,000 renovation was the first renovation the clubhouse has seen since it was built in the 1950s.
It added a new HVAC system, TVs, a foosball table, a bubble hockey table, a kitchen, a library, and basketball hoops.
With the new space, the clubhouse is able to serve 125 kids a day, up from 74 before the remodeling.
“In order to meet the needs of the kids that come through our doors, it’s about preparedness," said the COO of the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo, Lorrie Ann Knight. "And as an organization, we want to always be prepared with the trends. Our kids tell us a lot of different things. Sometimes things that we don’t know, but then we can build a program around that to help support that one child.”
The renovated clubhouse will open to kids on Monday.
Because of COVID precautions, it will be limited to 60 children.
