The Rochester Institute of Technology has released the results of a report focusing on student mental health and well-being.
A task force was charged with conducting a comprehensive review after a student death by suicide this past winter.
The event prompted concern about the needed for more mental health guidance on campus.
"As educators, we pride ourselves in preparing students to be citizens of the world," the task force said. "But that preparation must go beyond academics and include helping our students cope successfully with a wide variety of social, personal and professional challenges."
The task force offers a number of recommendations that include an increased demand for improved mental health services.
In a message to the R.I.T. community, the college said the task force report emphasizes the importance of having an integrated campus wide approach to meet the increasing demand for mental health and well-being services to include professional treatment services, wellness educational programming and operational improvements.
