BUFFALO, N.Y. — March is National Women's History Month, and it's being celebrated with a challenge to stay happy.

"I wanted to remind people that being happy isn't a destination," said Peggy Sullivan. "It's not something you get to when or if you accomplish XYZ. It's about the little things, the small things."

Sullivan is the founder of a Buffalo non-profit called the SheCAN! Network, which is focused on the empowerment of women. She also recently published a book called "Happiness is Your Responsibility."

Monday is the beginning of a five-day challenge. The first is creating a positive morning routine. Tuesday is adopting a gratitude attitude, followed by living in the present on Wednesday, ditching negative thoughts on Thursday and claiming ownership of your happiness on Friday.

"Happiness is definitely contagious, so you don't just be happy for yourself, but you do it for other people," said Sullivan.
