BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bills Mafia is hoping to see a Super Bowl win next month, but one Buffalo pup has already punched her ticket to the big game.
At Buddy's Second Chance Rescue, Ruffalo Jill is vying for the Lombarky Trophy. This good girl is taking her talents to the Puppy Bowl next month.
She'll be representing the Queen City along with 118 other pups in the 18th annual event showcasing shelters and their staff who dedicate their time to helping these fur babies find forever homes.
This year, 67 shelters will participate, shining a light on adoptable dogs.
Ruffalo Jill and her sister were rescued with 35 other pups from a kill shelter in Georgia but were lucky enough to find a home in Buffalo.
Staff at Buddys Second Change Rescue say her story speaks to the reason why it is so important to adopt and not shop.
“Well obviously, adopting, you're saving a life," said rescue founder Julie Starr. "There's so many thousands and thousands of dogs across the country who don't get a chance to make it out of the shelters just for the sheer fact of overcrowding. You know, shelters can only do so much with what they have available. ”
