HAMBURG, N.Y. — The big day has arrived. Wednesday marks the start of the best 12 days of summer.

It’s time for the Erie County Fair in Hamburg.

For many visitors, the best thing about the event is the food. From fried Oreos to Korean street corn, there are tons of weird and wild eats for you to sink your teeth into.

One of the new food items at the fair this year is loaded fried pickle nachos.

"We're taking a unique twist to a traditional nacho, like a loaded nacho, and we're adding fried pickles to it," said Cameron Murray, owner of Chester's Gators and Taters. "It's real dill pickles. It's got a little bit of a spicy batter to it and we just keep piling the toppings on."

The dish starts with nachos, then adds melted cheese, the fried pickles, more cheese, then bacon, a helping of chili and some jalapeños. They top it off with a generous dose of ranch dressing.

It's just one of the many delicious items to sample at the fair over its 12-day run.
