The silence in this case, really is speaking volumes at the Buffalo and Erie County Central Library. That is, in terms of online access to the library system. Behind the scenes, folks like James Lemb are busy editing the Launch Pad Makerspace's first online tutorial for 3D printers.

"They are learning parts of the printer, safety involved of the printer," Lemb said.

On the other side of the wall Jordan Smith is testing out his Zoom App to make sure all is smooth for any "Book a Trainer" sessions. Normally those are face-to-face, so they too, are learning a thing or two about online meet ups.

"Not when I was going to library school, but I am certainly happy the technology is here to keep us connected," Smith said.

That brings us to man on the other end of that practice Zoom call, is Sean Goodrich. He heads Tech Know Lab at the Central Library. After our initial hello, he got a call that kept him very busy. So, we'll explain his online task.

Every Wednesday at noon is Lunchtime Learning Zoom. The hour lesson is free, like everything else at the library.

For questions on books, or maybe virtual programming for the kids,  this is where Kristi Dougherty comes in. She's the manager of children services.  If you've requested a book, she's most likely the woman running around finding it, so you can pick it up! With winter break around the corner, she is reminding you of the free activities they've made available!

"We have story times online, everything from bilingual to winter," she said.

And the popular Take and Makes are back.

"We are going to very soon have them available so you can call and request them, we've got candy house paper kits from Explore and More," she said.

With more than 103,685 eBooks and 22,592 eAudiobooks, the options are endless. If you still want to swing by and say hello, pickup and curbside is still available. You return them as normal. Books are quarantined for 96 hours before being put back into circulation for Dougherty to hunt for again.
