WILLIAMSVILLE — Williamsville parents say they are getting fed up with the district's lack of communication and plans.

Acting Superintendent John McKenna and board of education members received a complaint from frustrated families in the district Wednesday.

The group is demanding a face-to-face meeting with McKenna by Friday and that the hybrid style of learning begins by September 28. If not, the group says 1,500 Williamsville families will petition the New York State Board of Regents and Governor Andrew Cuomo with a neglect of education complaint.

The superintendent released a video Thursday responding to the call for better communication and promising daily video updates from meetings.

"Right now we're researching programs, we're researching other districts, and we're gathering information to reset and move forward. Then we're gonna relaunch, we're gonna implement a plan, get a timeline, get a professional development plan and timeline all set and ready to go. And then we're gonna return," said McKenna.

McKenna promised a tighter timeline for a return in following updates.

Williamsville Central School District released a statement on Thursday in response, saying they are committed to transparency and open lines of dialogue:

"The District is committed to keeping the lines of communication open and ensuring transparency as we continue to move forward in finalizing our plans and timeline for providing an equitable education for all students. Dr. McKenna met with Class Officers, along with the Student Interhigh Advisory Council, which has student leaders from all three high schools, on Monday. He will be meeting with student leaders again next week. In addition, Dr. McKenna met with Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) leadership on Wednesday night to have an open discussion and listen to the concerns of parents in the community. We will also be meeting with the PTSA leadership next week.

We have mobilized, strategized, and are moving methodically with our committees to find solutions both short and long term.

We will Reset, Relaunch, and Return."
