BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Public School District is being accused of covering up how unsafe its school buildings are.
The Buffalo Teachers Federation says the district is forcing teachers to work in schools that aren't sanitary, and administrators are keeping information about safety from teachers.
The BTF is taking the district to court, seeking an injunction.
Since the start of the school year, teachers have complained about a lack of masks, disinfectant sprays, and no-contact thermometers.
"The district just doesn't want us to find out exactly how bad things are in these buildings. I mean, we have pictures of conditions that would, ants, droppings things like that. what the district is doing is unconscionable, said Buffalo Teachers Federation president Phil Rumore.
The district has responded, saying the BTF's inquiries are unfounded.
The district says it has addressed issues that teachers have brought up and that school buildings are safe.
