Zukic pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in August 2021. Investigators believe the shooting was a random attack and the pair did not know each other.

The Erie County DA called it one of the most senseless and gruesome crimes he has prosecuted during his time as district attorney.
