GREECE, N.Y. -- A Greece man is accused of stabbing a woman several times in her chest, neck, side and back on Monday, and police on Tuesday offered more details about the relationship between the suspect and victim.

Robert Brooks, 34, is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Brooks stabbed Diana Rivera at a location on Woodhill Drive around 12 p.m. Monday. Rivera, 34, underwent surgery at a Rochester hospital, and is listed in guarded condition.

"The information we have right now is that there's an apparent domestic relationship between the two," said Sgt. Jared Rene, Greece Police Department. "They have a child in common as best we understand it. We're waiting to develop more information on that though. Speak to her, but due to her condition and being in the hospital, that's making it a little bit challenging."

Brooks was arraigned and is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $200,000 cash bail. He's due back in court Friday.
