For the sixth-straight day, Western New York has the highest COVID-19 infection rate of any region statewide. That's according to the latest data from the State Health Department.

As of Saturday, the area had a seven-day positivity rate average of 4.89%, more than 1.5% points above New York’s overall seven-day average of 3.27%.

The governor's office hopes continued vaccination efforts will curb those numbers.

Nearly one in four people statewide are completely vaccinated, including more than 326,000 Western New Yorkers.
