WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Parents who have students at Heim Elementary in Williamsville are on high alert after the district confirmed there is a positive case of COVID-19 at the school.
The department of health notified the district on Saturday of a positive case. The person was last in the building one week ago on Tuesday, September 22.
The district sent out a letter to parents on Sunday and the superintendent also announced the information in an address online Monday. The person with COVID-19 is now in isolation.
The district said the Erie County Department of Health conducted contact tracing and the department has already reached out to families whose child or children could have had close contact. They said if a family has not been contacted, there is nothing they need to do.
The district said they've taken action to "thoroughly clean" and sanitize any areas the COVID-19 positive person came in contact with.
"We have been and will continue to work closely with the Erie County Department of Health. Please refer to the letter we sent out last night if you have any questions about this situation," said Acting Superintendent Dr. John McKenna.
That letter can be found here.
The district is also asking parents to contact your child's healthcare provider if you have questions, continue to monitor your child for any symptoms, and fill out the daily health screening questionnaire.
