Tuesday marks day two of the New York state coronavirus "pause" with schools and non-essential businesses closed to help stop the continued spread of the virus.
Many people are already feeling cabin fever and thankfully, county and state parks are still open.
But, how do you take advantage of the great outdoors while maintaining social distancing? The Erie County Parks system has a few tips for that.
Park leaders say that if you do plan on visiting, it should be for a healthy, isolated nature break. You should also avoid any activities that would bring you in contact with other people.
Playgrounds and sports fields are also closed for the time being. Many basketball hoops and nets have been removed from parks.
The county says that due to the coronavirus, it's best to choose a different park or trail or return to that park at a different time.
There are more than 10,000 acres of land within the Erie County Parks system. You can view the list of trails on this website.
As for parks in the city of Buffalo, Mayor Byron Brown says that if people continue to gather together, he's not afraid to shut things down. But, so far, he says there's no need to do that.
"Right now I think we are good, should we see a change or abuses of them, then we will act accordingly at that time, but right now, the residents of the city of Buffalo who are using our parks are complying very well," said Brown.
As for state parks, the trails and grounds are still open, however, just like with county parks, playgrounds and visitor centers are closed.
If you were hoping for a getaway during the state's "pause," you'll want to note that campgrounds, cabins, and cottages are closed for the early state park camping season through at least April 30.
