LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Lockport's Historic Palace Theater is back open following a $3.5 million renovation project.

State leaders toured the 95-year-old building Saturday before theater staff unveiled what they called the grand restoration.

Workers installed new floors, seating, and expanded the orchestra pit in addition to restoring the theatre's intricate murals and designs.

They also renovated the outer lobby and box office was well as improving the electrical and sound systems.

Officials say the project was made possible thanks to funding from the state's Downtown Revitalization Initiative and the New York Power Authority.

Crews are working to replace the roof and install a new solar power system in summer 2022.

The theater is set to host several events celebrating its reopening this week, click here.
