BUFFALO, N.Y. —   In an effort to revamp the Queen City's downtown entertainment district, $8 million is going toward repaving, replacing sidewalks, adding led street lighting, benches and plants.

These upgrades are happening on Chippewa, Franklin and Court Streets. Businesses will be open during construction.

The city believes it will get a good chunk of money from President Biden’s infrastructure plan.

On Friday, Mayor Byron Brown said more projects are on the horizon for other parts of the city.

“I’m literally hearing from hundreds of people living in every section of the city. We're going to invest right in the city proper,” said Brown. “We’re going to invest in the things that people feel need to be improved, things that are broken, things that will stimulate job creation. So that’s where we will use this money to invest.”

Work will kick off Monday on Chippewa between Elmwood Avenue and Franklin Street. Work on Franklin Street is expected to start Monday, April 12.
