HGTV is launching a new show that's focused on transforming an entire town — and a few local communities are hoping to be chosen.
The show is called "Home Town Takeover." HGTV is looking for a town with a population of fewer than 40,000 people. The show's creators asked people in towns all over the country to tell them why their hometown should win. The show will rehab homes and revitalize public spaces like parks, diners, and rec centers.
Medina has a video pitch posted right on its village website. Albion is also making a pitch, with a video submission that's gotten thousands of views on YouTube.
Another spot, Boonville, in Oneida County, submitted a video of its own. A devastating fire destroyed homes and businesses in its downtown area in early January. It's looking for some help to rebuild.
The shows website says the submission period is now closed and they are reviewing the entries.
The show will be six episodes and is set to air next year.
