SCHOHARIE, N.Y. -- The not guilty verdict in the Cal Harris murder trial ends a nearly 15-year ordeal for the Tioga County man accused of killing his wife Michele in 2001.

It was a 15 year investigation that the defense says never had to happen. Cal Harris and his attorney say the Tioga County District Attorney and New York State Police consistently targeted him in the case.

"There are people, and they know who they are, who hunted Cal Harris for 15 years. Today, the hunted become the prey," said defense attorney Bruce Barket.

Harris says his team has proof of several situations where the prosecution scared witnesses into not giving their testimony.

"Wait until you see what we present going forward," Harris said. "It will be a shocking display of abuse of power and corrupt conduct that this area has ever seen."

Harris also says if the prosecution would work with them, they have evidence that can lead to Michele's killer.

Tioga County District Attorney Kirk Martin says the case is not closed.

"This is still a missing person, so to the extent that if we had any evidence as to the location of her remains or anything of that nature, we'll be sure to follow up on it," Martin said.

Harris says his family won't truly be able to move on until the case is closed.

"Not until we find Michele, not until we find the mother of my children, and we get those answers, there won't be closure," Harris continued. "And we should have those answers. There's no reason that we shouldn't. This isn't a mystery. It just wasn't handled properly."

Harris says he hopes the district attorney will now consider their evidence to give his family that closure.
