We've turned the phrase "The Process" into somewhat of a joke because of how much we've heard it from Sean McDermott his first few years. This offseason is a big step forward in how McDermott and Brandon Beane want to build the Bills, but how close is it to being a consistent winner? McDermott wouldn't answer that, but did add a new phrase to the fold that gives you an idea of where he hopes it is: Responsibly non-patient.

"Why was there a 17- to 18-year playoff drought? Let's just start there. Not looking back too much, there was a lot of good coaches and GMs in that time. We're going to do things a certain way that I know lead to winning and sometimes that takes a little patience, as much as I want it right now like every fan in Buffalo. To do it the right way you really have to be a steward of the opportunity and the organization and that's what I feel like I try to be every day,” said McDermott.

As McDermott tries doing things the right way, outsiders have attacked the team and city, especially after the Antonio Brown fallout. Beane responded harshly to the criticism a few weeks ago. On Tuesday, the Bills head coach did the same.

"Perception and reality are not always the same. Spend a day, spend a week in Buffalo. Get around the people. Get around the city. Get around the energy of our city. People that say that, in my opinion, haven't spent that time and really don't want to spend that time. To me, that's on them. What more could you ask for from a city that, football, to me, is important to the city of Buffalo. That's not the case in every city. People want to pump palm trees and this and that and weather and this and that — come to Buffalo, where football's important to the people," said McDermott.

Next up for McDermott is continuing the scouting process heading into the NFL Draft in about a month.
