BUFFALO, N.Y. — Valentine's Day is around the corner and it's time to put your dancing shoes on.
The Buffalo History Museum is holding its first ever Sweethearts Dance. The dance is 1950s themed and starts with a guided dance with Swing Buffalo at 7 p.m. The Alex Rene Big Band will start playing in the balcony at 7:30 p.m.
Brian Hayden, director of communications at the museum, says the 50s were one of the most accessible and enjoyable eras of music and dance.
“It's everything from Frank Sinatara to Elvis Presley that made their mark in that decade,” he said. “And we know a number of people that still remember the 50s, so we can reintroduce that decade the older population in Buffalo, but also create new memories for the generation that doesn't remember that decade too.”
Hayden says you're welcome to come as you are or if you want, you can wear a 50s style attire.
