Starting next Monday, the ramp taking traffic from Interstate 481 south to Interstate 81 south in the city of Syracuse will be closed until the spring of 2025 as part of the new I-81 viaduct project.

This closure is needed as crews start to prep for a new interchange that will convert that section of 481 into the new I-81 and create a new business loop.

Message boards on I-481 will detour traffic to I-81 northbound at exit 17 for South Salina Street and Brighton Avenue. Motorists will make a left onto East Calthrop Avenue and another left onto the entrance ramp for I-81 southbound.
