BUFFALO, N.Y. — Young hockey players will be noticing some improvements to a North Buffalo rink this season.

The City of Buffalo spent more than $1 million to upgrade the Lafayette ice rink on Tacoma Avenue, including a new ice-making machine. The improvements were unveiled Thursday.

“This didn’t happen by accident. Our planned phases of improvement have been systematically and strategically done over the years to make this one of the best rinks,” said Mayor Byron Brown.

He aims to continue using resources to update and improve community spaces throughout the city.
