Racing and Watkins Glen are synonymous, and this weekend the cars are coming back to the track for the biggest race of the year. The Bowling at the Glen race is this Sunday, and the team there is ready to welcome back all the visitors for a good time.

Like any big event, the planning for next year begins the day after it all ends. Glen President Michael Printup said they are extra ready this year. Typically, the event falls in early August, so in 2022, they’ve had extra time to prepare. After no race in 2020, and a reduced event in 2021, everything is back to a full weekend at the Glen.

The races ramp up each day, with ARCA series on Friday, Sunoco Xfinity race Saturday and Bowling at the Glen is on Sunday.

“The general tire ARCA series, which is like Triple A baseball, and then you have the Sunoco Xfinity race on Saturday, which is like your Major League Baseball, and then you’ve got your big, big time NASCAR Go Bowling at the Glen on Sunday," said Printup.

The emphasis this year is on the fan experience. Printup said there will be giveaways, interviews, concerts, and more.

“The racing’s great, some of the best in the world, right here at Watkins Glen, but ya know let’s make it a little bit better, so we’ve put a lot of effort into making the fans more comfortable and have more fun from 10 years old to 90 years old," said Printup.

Printup also emphasizes the affordability of the weekend. Kids 12 and under are just $10 to get in for the weekend, and fans are allowed to bring coolers with food and drinks. There are still tickets online for this weekend.
