TEXAS — Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Boyd announced his retirement from the court, effective this summer.
Boyd posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday saying, “I am honored and blessed to have served on the Texas Supreme Court these past twelve years. I’m especially grateful to Governor Rick Perry for appointing me to the court in 2012, to the many Texans who have encouraged, supported, and voted for me through two statewide elections.”
Justice Boyd was reelected in November 2020 and his term was expected to end on Dec. 31, 2026.
Gov. Rick Perry appointed Jeff Boyd to the Court on Dec. 3, 2012, to finish Justice Dale Wainwright’s term after Wainwright’s resignation on Sept. 30.
A replacement for Boyd could be appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott, contingent on Senate confirmation, to complete Boyd’s term.
