The state Department of Public Service is hosting two public hearings at Clay Town Hall today regarding future National Grid plans.

The first, at 1 p.m., will talk about infrastructure for the planned Micron semiconductor facility in Clay. Public statements will be allowed for at least 30 minutes; if you can't make the meeting, but wish to comment, go to dps.ny.gov, click on "File Search" under the "Commission Files" heading, search for case No. 24-T-0120, and click on "Post Comments" at the top of the page.

Then at 6 p.m., the utility company will detail its plan for proposed rate hikes. Public comments will also be open at this meeting.

The increase is about 15% for electricity and 20% for gas. If approved by the state regulators, the changes would take effect in April.
