It’s something we all put off from time to time, but scheduling our doctors appointments are a crucial step in staying healthy as we get older. But often times finding transportation and time to travel from office to office can be difficult. But the Southern Tier, one medical group is making it easier for the entire community, with a one-stop-shop.
The days of driving around town for all your medical appointments could be a thing of the past. Inside the building, Ascension Lourdes has just about anything you’d ever need, from a walk-in, to orthopedics, heart care, pulmonology and a drive-thru pharmacy.
As Dr. Dermot Reynolds walks the halls of the new facility, he knows he can treat patients like never before.
“It's extremely convenient for patients to be able to easily access this building, see primary care, come over for X-rays, have a procedure done under X-ray control. Phlebotomy is here for lab work,” said Reynolds, orthopedic surgeon at Ascension Lourdes.
And getting to those appointments has never been easier. With a one-stop-shop conveniently located on the public bus route, patients won’t have to miss appointments if they can’t find a ride.
“With transportation being one of the biggest concerns for patients and getting to their appointments out, parking is great and with it, being on the bus line is very easy for the patients to navigate,” said Matt Stein, director of revenue cycle at Ascension Lourdes.
“Ease of access is an important part, and whether it's with public transport or coming in your own vehicle, the parking here is terrific,” said Reynolds.
Once you do arrive at the the Lourdes Pavilion, you’re able to be treated from start to finish, all in one building. And once your procedure or care is over, your road to recovery can begin, and what better way than with a little hydro therapy.
For local athletes, a fitness rehab suite will continue to serve them following their injury.
“It's wonderful that for patients they can be seen here by their primary care physician. They can be referred to specialists for care of their particular problem. And in my case, I'm able to see adults with hip and knee pain, do nonsurgical management, and when non-surgical measures fail, schedule them for surgical management at the hospital," said Reynolds.
“That is definitely the goal being we want patients to be able to have multiple appointments on the same day with multiple providers, and making that as seamless as possible has been a great success," said Stein.
Up until now, Guthrie locations in Sayre and Central New York were the closest all-in-one location of its kind. The Lourdes Pavilion is expanding even further in 2023 with more medical units and a full scale pharmacy.
